R-Truth’s surprising winning singles record against the legendary John Cena came to an end at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 24, 2025, when Cena defeated him in their non-title encounter. Prior to this match, R-Truth held a notable 2-1 advantage over the 17-time World Champion in one-on-one contests.
Their past singles history included R-Truth securing a count-out victory on Raw in May 2011 and a Tables Match win on Raw in June 2011. Cena’s sole previous singles victory over Truth came at the Capitol Punishment pay-per-view in June 2011. Cena’s win at Saturday Night’s Main Event definitively evened their singles series at two wins apiece.
Following this victory, WWE has significant plans for Cena at the upcoming Money in the Bank premium live event on June 7th. He will team with Logan Paul against Cody Rhodes and World Champion Jey Uso.
