A History of Bad Luck
She explained that this major injury is the culmination of a long and difficult battle with knee instability that dates back to other serious injuries she has sustained during her time in WWE. “As some of you know, I’ve had a string of bad luck with injuries — I tore my Achilles in 2023, partially tore my ACL four months later, and have been working on it ever since,” Rizzo wrote. “After a year and a half, it finally gave out on me”.
The Road to Recovery
Recovery from a torn ACL and meniscus, especially for a high-performance professional athlete, is a lengthy and arduous process. The typical recovery time following surgery for such an injury ranges from nine to twelve months before an athlete can be cleared for a full return to in-ring competition.
A Decorated Athlete
Adriana Rizzo, real name Anna Keefer, signed with WWE as part of the Performance Center’s Fall 2022 Rookie Class. Prior to her wrestling career, she was a decorated collegiate athlete, earning five All-American honors in track and field at the University of North Carolina.
A Determined Mindset
Despite the long road ahead, Rizzo expressed a determined and positive mindset, focusing on making a complete recovery. “I’m ready to attack this and come back 100% healthy for the first time in my WWE career,” she stated in her post.
Rizzo’s injury is a significant setback for the promising young superstar, but her public statement shows she is focused on her rehabilitation. Fans can follow her social media for updates on her journey back to a WWE ring.
