WWE star teases character change following SmackDown loss

Lacey Evans is in an odd spot on the WWE roster as she hasn’t been used much this year.

After not being used since July, Evans returned on the September 9th edition of SmackDown as part of a Fatal 5-Way Elimination Match that featured Natalya, Ronda Rousey, Sonya Deville, and Xia Li with the winner challenging for then-SmackDown Women’s Champion Liv Morgan at Extreme Rules. Rousey won that bout.

On Friday’s SmackDown, Evans was part of a six-pack challenge to determine the challenger to SmackDown Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey at Survivor Series. The former US Marine took the pin on the Veteran’s Day edition of SmackDown to allow Shotzi to advance and earn the title match.

Post-match, Cathy Kelley asked her what could’ve been a career-defining moment for her if she had won the match. This is where Evans noted that she needed to go back to the basics.

“I have done everything that I’ve needed to do to not only get my foot in this door but get opportunities. The glitz, the glamor, and every time I’ve come up short. Do you know what it is because I’ve got complacent in this lifestyle. I got comfortable, and to be honest with you, I have went out of my way to please everybody by myself. It’s time to go back to basics.”
