Whatever happens this week at WWE’s TV and WrestleMania tapings may be different from original plans but it looks like there was consideration for a heel turn on SmackDown.
WrestleVotes reported this week that before the TV taping changes, the plan was for a Mixed Tag Team Match with Heavy Machinery and Mandy Rose teaming up against Dolph Ziggler, Robert Roode and Sonya Deville in a Mixed Tag Match.
There has been a lot of fan speculation that it was Sonya Deville who sent the text from Rose’s phone to Otis a few weeks ago to cause Otis to arrive late to the restaurant. Basically, the story would play out to show that Rose was telling the truth and it was Ziggler inserting himself into the picture at opportune times and not Rose ditching Otis.
Last month, there was a leaked card that listed Otis vs. Ziggler with Mandy Rose at the special referee so the plans for this match have changed a couple of times.
It’s not clear yet if the Mixed Tag Match is still the plan but WrestleMania plans are likely finalized by now since WWE is taping the next two SmackDown episodes this weekend. WrestleMania is set to be taped in a few days. Click here for the taping schedule.
Taping on a closed set with no fans will make it less likely for spoilers to get out so we won’t know anything until these shows air.
If WWE moves forward with the heel turn, they would still need to explain these photos of Rose and Ziggler from this past week:
