One of the top babyfaces of WWE Friday Night SmackDown may be off TV for a while.
Sheamus lost a match to Solo Sikoa tonight on SmackDown. There was the usual interference from The Usos at ringside but a lot more happened after the end of the match.
Sami Zayn went to grab a chair as Jimmy, Jey and Solo Sikoa pinned Sheamus down. Jey grabbed the chair from Sami’s hands and repeatedly hit it against Sheamus’ pinned arm on the steel steps. Officials ran out to the ringside area to stop the attack and to check on Sheamus.
While nothing is confirmed, it looks like this is a way to write Sheamus off TV for a while. Usually, when WWE does these types of attack angles it’s to give someone time off either to heal up, for personal reasons, or for the storyline.
