Two WWE stars took to social media to comment on the releases of The Ascension and Luke Harper.
On Instagram, Erick Rowan wrote, “Three of the best friends I’ve made in the business. Extremely talented and genuinely good dudes. Going back to FCW, It’s been an honor to be around you boys. Can’t wait to see what’s next for all of you! @wwe_viktor @thislukeharper @konnor_ascension_wwe.”
On Twitter, Sasha Banks wrote, “Fun fact : @KonnorWWE was the officiant for my wedding, and @LukeHarperWWE signed the wedding certificate as a witness.”
The feeling among the wrestlers is that they are sad to see these guys leave the company but there is also happiness for them because it was clear that they were not going to get a chance to succeed at a level higher than the bottom of the card. Harper has been used sparingly this year and The Ascension haven’t appeared on any WWE shows since April.
No word on what the plans are for The Ascension but the betting line on Harper is that he will eventually land with All Elite Wrestling. Everyone who was released on Sunday, including Sin Cara, have a 90-day non-compete clause that would prevent them from wrestling elsewhere until early March.
