According to a new report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE, not AEW, was the party that initially had an issue with The Miz hosting the “American Gladiators” reboot due to the inclusion of AEW talent on the show.
WWE’s The Miz is set to host the upcoming reality competition show. The cast of “Gladiators” will feature AEW stars Wardlow and Kamille, creating a rare instance of contracted WWE and AEW talent working together on the same program.
Another upcoming project, the Netflix movie Happy Gilmore 2, further complicates the situation. This movie features major roles for both AEW’s MJF and WWE’s Becky Lynch.
The report notes that in a recent advertisement for the movie that aired during the June 16 episode of WWE Raw, MJF was noticeably edited out of the spot.
