WWE stars unhappy about Seth Rollins taking heat for bad Hell in a Cell main event

Seth Rollins is still taking heat from fans for the horrible ending to his match with Bray Wyatt at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view.

The heat should be directed at the company since the wrestlers in the match did not come up with the finish for that match.

Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that a number of people in the company have acknowledged that the finish for that match was bad and there are people who are mad about Rollins getting so much heat for something that was not his idea.

I spoke with a couple of wrestlers who have said privately that they feel bad for Rollins.

One wrestler told me, “Seth is the hardest working guy in the company. He wants to put on the best matches so it pisses me off when fans sh** on him for a bad idea that was not his. He’s a good guy and doesn’t deserve any of the heat he’s getting.”

The only wrestler to speak out publicly on the horrible ending was Roman Reigns.

Reigns said the following during an interview with Forbes: “I think you should express your opinions, but it doesn’t hurt anybody if you have a shred of respect. Have a little respect for the performers who were out there killing themselves for you. I didn’t like the Hell in a Cell finish either, but I wasn’t about to cuss some guys out who got hit in the head over and over. Bray Wyatt put his health on the line to entertain some fans to the best of his ability. I didn’t like it, but I respect Bray’s effort and willingness to go out there and do what you have to do. So, if you can, just a little bit of respect.”

People involved in the creative process have privately acknowledged how bad the match was. People in the company have said that the blame falls on Vince McMahon. For what it’s worth, McMahon was not bothered by the outrage and his feeling was that the fans who were upset will tune in to see the rematch.

Rollins and Wyatt will wrestle again for the Universal Championship at the Crown Jewel pay-per-view in a Falls Count Anywhere match. This time, WWE is promising that the match cannot be stopped for any reason.
