It’s no secret that WWE has had a hard time selling tickets to their events over the last few years.
Not only did WWE have to deal with that problem with the Stomping Grounds event that had low attendance but live events as well. This was something that WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon had promised on an investor conference call to fix. Vince had talked about “reimaging” live events.
These shows are losing money for the company because of declining attendance. Not much has changed since that statement regarding live events.
However, WWE is trying a new marketing technique to promote live events. A PWInsider reader noted that while attending a movie on Sunday in Pennsylvania, a localized ad for the upcoming WWE live event in Wilkes-Barre, PA played on the screen before the previews of other movies.
This advertisement featured Braun Strowman doing a promo about coming to Wilkes-Barre. It will be interesting to see if this a one-time thing or if WWE continues to air these advertisements to help boost attendance for shows.
