WWE statement on Mauro Ranallo, more details on why he is leaving the company

In a follow-up from the story on Mauro Ranallo, Dave Meltzer is reporting that Ranallo is not leaving on negative terms.

Ranallo missed the last two NXT shows so he could be with his mother, who has been hospitalized. Meltzer also noted that Ranallo has been looking for a less stressful schedule even though WWE has been accomodating him by allowing him to work from home in Santa Monica, California during the pandemic.

As noted earlier, Ranallo is leaving the company as WWE has been in talks with Wade Barrett regarding a full-time return to the company. Barrett returned for last week’s NXT. At the time that was just considered a one-off appearance but things have changed in the last few days.

WWE issued the following statement on Ranallo’s departure:

“WWE and Mauro Ranallo have mutually and amicably agreed to part ways. Mauro’s passion and enthusiasm left an indelible and exciting mark with WWE and its fans, and we wish him the best in his future endeavors.”

Meltzer added that Ranallo will continue working for Showtime Boxing and Bellator MMA. Click here for Mauro’s statement.
