WWE SummerSlam: Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz

Daniel Bryan finally got his opportunity to get his hands on The Miz in a match at this year’s WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view. Before the match got started, they showed Maryse sitting at ringside with baby Monroe Sky.

Bryan immediately went to punch Miz in the face but Miz backed off near the ropes. Miz got the early offense after a cheap shot to the face on Bryan. He followed up by more punches and kicks in the corner. Bryan was able to stop him by grabbing his throat and then followed up with punches and YES kicks.

Things really picked up in the second half of the match. Bryan got most of the offense, including a dive over the top of the ring post onto Miz on the outside of the ring. However, Miz took over seconds later but on the opposite side of the ring but that ended when Bryan got him in the Tree of Woe (hanging by his legs upside down). Bryan ran at him with a diving dropkick and then hit a belly to back superplex off the top rope. Bryan hit Miz with Yes kicks but Miz countered with the DDT and nearly won the match.

Corey Graves said that Miz’ chest looked like hamburger meat thanks to the repeated chops from Bryan. Bryan no-sold several kicks to the chest from Miz and then hit Miz several times with slaps to the face. Bryan followed up with a kick to the face. He went for a running dropkick but Miz countered into a slingshot into the post and then the Skull Crushing Finale. Bryan was able to kick out.

Later in the match, Bryan hit Miz with Yes kicks by the corner of the ring but Miz moved and Bryan’s leg hit the ring post. Miz locked in the figure four but Bryan was able to turn it over. Miz broke the hold by getting to the bottom rope. Bryan was able to lock in the Yes Lock but Miz was able to grab the rope again. Bryan nailed Miz with a running knee at ringside and that knocked him into the barricade near Maryse. She put something in Miz’ hand and he used it to punch Bryan. Miz got the win.

For those of you wondering, Bryan has not signed a new deal but he expects to sign something soon.
