WWE SummerSlam in Boston officially canceled, show moved to WWE Performance Center

As expected, WWE will not be holding this year’s SummerSlam pay-per-view event in Boston as originally planned.

WWE had been holding out hope that the company would be able to go forward with its plans for the show to take place at the TD Garden. However, the COVID-19 pandemic prevented those plans from becoming a reality.

Pwinsider.com reported on Monday that WWE will hold SummerSlam from the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida on Sunday, August 23, 2020. WWE has yet to make the location change public but is expected to do so.

Originally, WWE was going to hold SummerSlam in addition to other events at the TD Garden next month. Those events were Friday Night SmackDown on August 21, NXT TakeOver on Saturday, August 22, and Monday Night Raw on August 24.

Back in May, Boston Mayor Marty Walsh announced that the city wouldn’t be allowed to have large gatherings through the end of the summer. Thus, the reason for the change of the location for SummerSlam.
