WWE SummerSlam Results: Cody Rhodes Wins Undisputed WWE Championship

Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena vs. Cody Rhodes in a street fight took place at the WWE SummerSlam – night 2 Premium Live Event from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. 

They showed respect before brawling. Cena tossed steel steps and hit Cody in the arm. Back in the ring, Cody took advantage and gained control. Both guys grabbed chairs and hit at the same time. Cody got out of the STF and hit a moonsault for 2. Cody with a piledriver for 2. Cena with a pop-up powerbomb then locked in the STF, only for Cody to get to the bottom rope. Cody tossed Cena over the barricade only for Cena to hit Cody with a microphone. Cena with sunset flip powerbomb on the floor. Cena with an AA to Cody through the announce table. Cody with the cross rhodes for 2. Cena with a leg drop off the top rope then the AA for 2. Cena grabbed a table only for Rhodes to block the AA and hit a DDT for 2. They brawled into the crowd and Rhodes hit a suplex to Cena on a barricade. Cena came up through Rhodes’ entrance platform and then hit an AA. Back in the ring, Rhodes threw him through a table then hit cross rhodes. Cody was about to hit Cena with the turnbuckle steel and went for it again, but Cena locked in the STF with the rope. Cody got out, avoided the AA and hit three cross rhodes for 2. Cody went for a title shot, but Cena hit the AA twice before hitting one off the top rope for 2. Cena went for an AA off the top rope through a table, but Cody avoided it and hit a cutter through a table. Cody gave Cena a slute and hit a cross rhodes for the win. 

Winner: Cody Rhodes

After the match, Brock Lesnar made his return to WWE. Lesnar circled the ring before laying out Cena with an F5.
