Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio vs. AJ Styles took place at the WWE SummerSlam – night 2 Premium Live Event from MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Styles took the fight straight to Mysterio including a head kick. Mysterio with the 619 before going for a splash, but AJ blocked and put him in the calf crusher. Mysterio goes to the bottom rope to break things up. Mysterio sent AJ face-first into the turnbuckle before undoing the top turnbuckle leading to Mysterio getting a chair and doing the old Eddie Guerrero spot, but AJ put the chair on his head and sold it. AJ had him in the calf crusher, but Mysterio got out as his boot came off. The referee was knocked off balance and Mysterio hit AJ with the boot before hitting a splash for the win.
Winner: Dominik Mysterio
