WWE Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER vs. Drew McIntyre took place at the WWE SummerSlam premium live event from Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.
McIntyre brought the fight to him right out of the gate until GUNTHER started to fight back with McIntyre trying to fight from underneath. They traded moves until McIntyre hit a powerbomb then followed up with the futureshock DDT for 2. McIntyre with a dive over the top rope. McIntyre ate a drop kick when going for the claymore. GUNTHER followed up with a powerbomb for 2. They traded chops throughout the bout. McIntyre caught him with the claymore kick for a near fall. GUNTHER pushed him off the top rope and hit a splash before hitting a powerbomb for the win.
Winner: GUNTHER
