The WWE Championship match between AJ Styles and Samoa Joe was slotted in the middle of the card at Super Show-Down. Styles was looking for revenge after Joe showed up at his house a couple of week s ago on Smackdown Live. The match was NO DQ and No Countout.
Things picked up several minutes into the match when Styles used a chair on Joe’s back. Styles ran at Joe in the corner but Joe caught him and slammed him. He was supposed to slam him into the chair but he barely grazed it. Joe then brought a table into the match but the plan backfired because he ended up going through the table. The table appeared to have caught the back of Joe’s thigh because he was holding it. Styles was bleeding through his mouth.
Joe told the referee that something popped in his knee but Styles insisted for the match to continue as he worked on the “bad” knee. Styles attempted to lock in the Calf Cruser but Joe reversed into the Coquina Clutch. Styles managed to get to the rope and nailed Joe with a kick to the face.
Joe was able to get some offense but the bad knee was a factor because he tapped to the Calf Crusher. Styles retained the title. It felt like that might have been the end of the feud.
