After weeks of mind games, “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt put up his Universal Championship against Daniel Bryan at WWE Survivor Series. For weeks, there have been teases that Bryan would turn full babyface but his face/heel status is still in question as he has not embraced the fans…at least not yet.
They wrestled under the red light that Vince McMahon loves. Bryan tried to hit a flurry of moves to start the match but Wyatt took over after a vicious clothesline and some punches. Wyatt dominated for several minutes until Bryan was able to fight back, including a knee strike at ringside and then a top rope dive onto Wyatt at ringside. Bryan followed up with a missile dropkick in the ring but Wyatt no-sold and stood up.
Wyatt continued to take punishment but Wyatt would stand back up. Bryan landed some “yes” kicks to the body and a kick to the head but Wyatt was back up. Wyatt delivered more “yes” kicks to the body and a kick to the head but Wyatt sat right back up. Cole wondered if Wyatt was laughing. Wyatt took several more kicks to the body and head and a bunch of stomps to the head. Bryan led the crowd in “yes” chants and then hit the running knee but Wyatt kicked out of the pin attempt.
Bryan was stunned as Wyatt got back up on his feet. Wyatt took a boot to the face and then locked in the mandible claw in the corner but Bryan was able to break the hold by locking an armbar on Wyatt. Bryan then went for a move off the top by Wyatt caught him with a punch and then he tried Sister Abigail but Bryan countered out of it. Wyatt finally locked in the mandible claw and the ref counted. Wyatt retained in less than 10 minutes.
