Original plans for the Forgotten Sons have been nixed and the group is now being replaced in a championship program.
As we noted on the site earlier this week, people in WWE are upset with Jaxson Ryker for his praise of President Donald Trump and his 2019 comments about Black Lives Matter. As a result, Ryker, Steve Cutler, and Wesley Blake have disappeared from Friday Night SmackDown.
According to a report by Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, the group “were primed for a push within the WWE Tag Team division.”
This was the plan before the tweet by Ryker was sent out. The report notes that there’s no heat on Blake or Cutler. Although Blake and Cutler have distanced themselves from Ryker due to the backlash both public and internally in WWE, that hasn’t changed the decision to pull them from television. Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro will be replacing The Forgotten Sons in a feud against current SmackDown Tag Team Champions The New Day (Big E and Kofi Kingston).
As of this writing, there’s no word yet on when a championship match between the two teams will happen, but WWE could save it for the Extreme Rules pay-per-view event next month.
