WWE teasing a major change to Survivor Series, AJ Styles reacts to Shane McMahon’s big announcement

The announcement from Shane McMahon regarding the main event for this coming Tuesday’s episode of Smackdown Live in Manchester, England has fans buzzing. For those of you that missed it, McMahon announced that AJ Styles will challenge Jinder Mahal for the WWE Championship. Originally, the plan was for Styles to face Rusev with the winner getting a spot on Team Smackdown at Survivor Series but those plans have changed.

The announcement has led to a ton of speculation online about Mahal’s standing as WWE Champion. Is he injured or did WWE freak out over the low rating for this week’s episode? I don’t see a reason for them to freak out over the rating because the show aired on Halloween night and they were up against Game 6 of the World Series. If anything, WWE should realize that the rating meant nothing this week.

But, if Mahal is injured then it’s possible that they’ve decided to take the title off of him. As we noted before on the site, Mahal has been wrestling with Kinesio tape on his shoulder.

On WWE.com, they’ve been teasing that Styles would go on to face Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series if he wins the title. WWE.com’s article says, “Mahal has been set on proving that he is the “beastmaster” and the top champion in all of WWE, but his Survivor Series showdown with The Beast could be in jeopardy if Styles dethrones him.”

Styles also teased that in his promo on WWE’s Twitter account. Check it out below:
