WWE to add independent wrestling to the WWE Network

As first reported on Wrestling Observer Radio, the Mark Dallas-owned UK promotion Insane Championship Wrestling is headed to the WWE Network. There were hints about this coming when WWE sent out a survey several months ago asking fans if they wanted to see independent wrestling on the network.

Vince McMahon apparently went back and forth on this decision but ultimately he approved the idea to add independent wrestling. They are also talking with other promotions. The impression being given is that ICW would not be on the live stream but you would be able to watch their shows via the On Demand section.

TNA stars like Drew Galloway and Grado work for ICW so it would be interesting to see what this means politically for them. All of this comes on the heels of WWE deciding to crown their new UK Champion and they also have plans to launch a UK-produced television show. That is very interesting because the show would be competing against the established UK promotions, including companies that WWE is already working with (PROGRESS, RevPro, etc.)
