WWE held its most recent event at Madison Square Garden in New York City with Friday’s episode of SmackDown, where they drew over 13,500 fans in attendance.
They made history by hitting the biggest live gate for an event at Madison Square Garden ever.
This was likely to be the final WWE show at MSG under the ownership of the McMahon family as the Endeavor Group’s acquisition of WWE gets closer. Vince McMahon was backstage at the show.
For decades, the entrance setup was a short aisle across. There was no big elaborate stage like the other WWE TV events. Several years ago, WWE stopped using the aisle and just had its normal setup.
Some fans have wondered why the company doesn’t have the same setup that they use for stadium shows to get the old MSG look. WrestleVotes reported earlier this week that when they asked, someone in WWE told them, “It’s just not what we do.”
I was asked why doesn’t WWE set up MSG like it has Puerto Rico or London for this Fridays SmackDown? Considering tickets are white hot, I asked.
“It’s just not what we do” is what I got back. Think about that. 😒

Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men podcast reported today that WWE will consider having a smaller stage for its next event at MSG.
WWE will be considering running a much smaller stage set up in the future at MSG.
It will depend on early ticket sales. https://t.co/mTkZrRentq
