WWE to honor Shad Gaspard at this year’s Hall Of Fame ceremony
WWE is going to give former star Shad Gaspard the Warrior Award at this year’s Hall Of Fame.
In 2020, Shad passed away following a tragic incident at Venice Beach while with his son as he was taken away by a riptide at the beach just moments after Gaspard, his son, and a group of swimmers found themselves in deep water. Gaspard insisted on lifeguards taking his son before him and he was taken away by the water. He was only 39 years old.
Since his passing, his best friend/tag team partner JTG has been pushing for WWE to honor Gaspard with this award that was created following The Ultimate Warrior’s death in 2015 for the recipients who have “exhibited unwavering strength and perseverance.”
Dave Meltzer wrote in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter: “It has been reported elsewhere that Shad Gaspard would be the winner of this year’s Warrior Award. Those in WWE have confirmed that to be accurate.”
The Hall Of Fame ceremony will take place next Friday night following SmackDown and air on Peacock. The Undertaker will headline the class. WWE has since confirmed the news:
