WWE has been airing shows from Orlando, Florida at the Amway Center since August, but starting December 11th, they’ll be moving its ThunderDome setup to Tropicana Field, the home of the Tampa Bay Rays, in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Fightful Select reports that the latest word is WWE will arrive at the Tropicana Field this Saturday and start production through December 10.
It was noted, “The company is expecting a much longer setup than they had for the Amway Center — possibly even twice as long.”
This makes sense considering the Amway Center is a traditional arena while the Tropicana Field is a baseball stadium.
Although WWE’s deal with the Amway Center was originally slated to expire this week, it’s been reported that current plans call for WWE to hold shows at the arena until at least December 7th. After this date, WWE will immediately tear down there.
The belief is WWE will air not only television but also pay-per-view events from the new location for the next several months.
