‘WWE Unreal’ Season 2 Reveals Original Plans For SummerSlam 2025, Return Of Finn Balor’s ‘Demon’ And More

The second season of the Netflix series WWE Unreal has provided fans with a fascinating look behind the curtain of WWE’s creative process, specifically highlighting the “Road to SummerSlam” in 2025. One standout moment from the season involves a scene where a whiteboard reveals the original, scrapped plans for several major events during the summer of 2025. These plans, which were later altered, offer a glimpse into alternate storylines for top stars like Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, and Liv Morgan.

According to the leaked information shown in the series, the summer schedule was set to feature significantly different matchups than what actually transpired. Notably, the “King of the Ring” and “Queen of the Ring” tournaments were originally scheduled to conclude at Night of Champions, with Cody Rhodes facing Rusev in the men’s final and Rhea Ripley taking on Giulia in the women’s final. Additionally, a women’s tag team match involving The Bella Twins was penciled in for SummerSlam, marking a potential return for the Hall of Fame duo.

The SummerSlam card itself underwent massive changes. The original lineup featured Roman Reigns vs. Bron Breakker, a “Demon” Finn Bálor vs. Dominik Mysterio grudge match, and a bout between Sami Zayn and Seth Rollins. The event also would have seen Jey Uso clash with Rusev. Perhaps most intriguingly, the “WarGames” match later in the year was originally envisioned to feature a heel team of Seth Rollins, Bronson Reed, Bron Breakker, Solo Sikoa, and JC Mateo facing a team led by Roman Reigns that included Sami Zayn and Jacob Fatu.

Below is a recap of the original plans revealed in WWE Unreal Season 2:

  • Money in the Bank: IYO SKY vs. Liv Morgan (Women’s World Championship)
  • Night of Champions (King of the Ring Final): Cody Rhodes vs. Rusev
  • Night of Champions (Queen of the Ring Final): Rhea Ripley vs. Giulia
  • Evolution: Nikki Bella vs. Liv Morgan
  • SummerSlam:
    • Roman Reigns vs. Bron Breakker
    • Sami Zayn vs. Seth Rollins
    • Finn Bálor (The Demon) vs. Dominik Mysterio
    • Jey Uso vs. Rusev
    • Bella Twins vs. Liv Morgan & Raquel Rodriguez (Women’s Tag Team Championship)
  • Clash in Paris: Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre (originally from WrestlePalooza)
  • WarGames:
    • Roman Reigns’ Team: Roman Reigns, Sami Zayn, Jacob Fatu, and others.
    • Heel Team: Seth Rollins, Bronson Reed, Bron Breakker, Solo Sikoa, and JC Mateo.
