WWE updates Crown Jewel Instagram post after fan backlash

WWE has changed a caption on one of their social media posts after a fan backlash on social media.

As we wrote on Sunday on, WWE posted a photo of The Undertaker's urn with the DX logo spray painted on it to promote the Crown Jewel show taking place on 11/2 in Saudi Arabia.

The post included the caption, "Respect is out the window at #WWECrownJewel."

It was clear that WWE's social media administration was not trying to make light of the situation with Saudi Arabia but the post led to a firestorm in the comments section with fans ripping the company for a caption that many saw as being tone deaf because of the news about the murder of Washington Post reporter Jamal Khashoggi.

“Absolutely tone deaf caption. Social media bod, have words with yourself,” one fan said in the comments section of the post. Another person wrote, “Cancel the network if wwe does not cancel crown jewel.”

WWE has changed the caption since our post on Sunday and it now says, "Are. You. Ready? #WWECrownJewel"

WWE's broadcast team and their social media admins have been instructed not to mention Saudi Arabia.
