Dana White’s statement about Ronda Rousey being “one and done” with was something that WWE creative said to be extremely surprised about. One source in WWE said that the Dana White interview threw the company off since Rousey talked about how much she enjoyed her WrestleMania appearance and WWE considered it a given (in some form) that she would be doing a match next year even though it’s not something that Dana White had agreed to. UFC fighters have a clause in their contracts that prohibits them from doing pro wrestling. It goes both ways because WWE contracts prohibit wrestlers from doing MMA.
WWE already had videos made that featured Rousey and it was said that Stephanie McMahon was going to talk about Rousey on Chris Jericho’s podcast as a small tease for next year’s WrestleMania. The feeling in WWE is that it’s not a dead issue since they still have a lot of time to figure things out. They have until the end of this year or early next year to figure things out but White’s comments did throw off some early plans because WWE wanted to do a small second part of an angle later this year.
