WWE has posted a new “Top 10” video featuring some of the best debuts from the past decade. Among the list of debuts mentioned was The Shield’s main roster debut during Survivor Series 2012.
When they debuted, they powerbombed Ryback through the announcer’s table and you could hear Michael Cole mention Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns “from NXT” by name. However, in the updated clip, they removed Dean Ambrose’s name and only mention Reigns and Rollins.
This is not a new thing. WWE has been known to remove names from clips in the past and for decades, it has been common for WWE to act as if someone didn’t exist anymore if they are working for a competing company. This time, their video department made sure to downplay Jon Moxley’s role in The Shield’s debut as much as possible.
Moxley, the former Dean Ambrose, is doing well in All Elite Wrestling as one of their top stars and it looks like they are setting up Moxley vs. Chris Jericho for their next pay-per-view. Perhaps, Moxley’s honesty about his unhappiness in WWE played a part in them removing his name.
Here is the original audio with Ambrose’s name mentioned.
