WWE is reporting looking at some “outside talent” to appear in the Royal Rumble on Saturday.
Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that FOX likes the idea of surprise appearances on shows, which explains why Eric Bischoff and Jeff Jarrett were on SmackDown last week.
Meltzer said that the outside talent being talked with would be for cameos in the Rumble and for surprises on their weekly TV shows. The idea behind this is to create some buzz to get fans into the notion that you never know who might show up each week.
No word yet on who they have lined up but in previous years, they have asked Rumble surprises to stick around so they can appear on Raw/SmackDown. When MVP showed up at the Rumble a couple of years ago, they asked him to appear on some Raw episodes and the same happened with Carlito last year. In MVP’s case, he ended up signing a full-time contract. So, don’t be surprised to see some surprise Rumble entrants on Raw/SmackDown next week.
