WWE Wants To Use Popular AAA Star On A Regular Basis

According to WrestleVotes, WWE has its eyes on Mr. Iguana and wants to use him more going forward.

“We are told that WWE has a significant interest in making him a part of their programming on a regular basis. Sources confirmed to have strong interest in both a marketing standpoint as well as a community outreach standpoint, as they feel the character can connect to the younger audience, we fully expect to see a heavy dose of new Iguana merchandise before the summer ends.”

Mr. Iguana, real name Santiago Ibarra Calderón, is a Mexican luchador who has made a name for himself in promotions like AAA. His act features a unique comedic style and his ever-present iguana hand puppet, “La Yesca,” which he incorporates into his matches.

He is a former and current AAA World Mixed Tag Team Champion. The charismatic babyface performer gained significant attention from WWE fans following a standout performance at the recent WWE x AAA Worlds Collide event, which led to a massive increase in his merchandise sales.
