WWE Went To Great Lengths To Keep John Cena’s Heel Turn A Secret

John Cena finally turned heel by turning on Cody Rhodes and aligning himself with The Rock, heading into WrestleMania.

Fightful Select reports that WWE placed a segment with The Rock in the middle of the show on the internal run sheets to protect Cena’s heel turn. WWE went to great lengths to keep it secret, as Triple H stated at the post-event press conference that he had the truck layout so he could handle everything with the turn, as only a few people needed to know that people were aware it was coming.

It came as a shock to many in the company. Cena and Rhodes knew the plan that they were going to wrestle at Mania. They haven’t heard whether Rock is wrestling at the show. It was added that “Much of Rock’s creative has been on a “need to know basis,” and Cena’s involvement with WWE this year hasn’t required much creative briefing across the board.”

According to sources, the Friday poster’s release served as ‘100 percent intentional foreshadowing,’ confirming Travis Scott’s planned involvement. WWE had been working on securing Travis Scott’s appearance for over a month, though his exact role within the angle’s timeline remains unknown.
