For months, WWE did a storyline where there was a hacker on Friday Night SmackDown but just dropped it without any explanation.
Fans will have a proper ending to the story during tonight’s episode of Raw. This is according to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select. It was reported today that as of this morning, WWE is planning to have Mustafa Ali reveal himself as the SmackDown hacker in a promo during this show.
It should be noted that this reveal of the hacker is not the focal point of the Retribution angle. Instead, it’s a way to “tie up loose ends.”
If you recall, WWE first started airing vignettes as well as having production interruptions during SmackDown. The mysterious figure was watching WWE stars.
Before Ali joined the group, there had been speculation that he was behind the hacker character as he was off WWE television at the time.
When WWE decided to have Ali join the group as its leader, it wasn’t known whether WWE would connect the hacker storyline to the stable, but that appears to be the case.
If you recall, despite advertising it, WWE didn’t have Ali do a promo where he would explain why he aligned himself with Retribution.
