Big E put the Intercontinental Championship on the line against Apollo Crews in a Nigerian Drum Fight at WWE WrestleMania 37.
The only way to win this match is by pinfall or submission. It was announced that there were no disqualifications or countouts. Wale did a live performance for Big E’s entrance.
They had kendo sticks, drums, and a gong, among other things, at ringside for them to use as weapons. They immediately went to get kendo sticks to use on each other but Big E got the better of the exchange. Big E drove Crews into a drum at ringside nad then Big E picked up the gong but Crews kicked him and then attacked him with the kendo stick. Back in the ring, Big E turned things around by spearing Crews through the ropes and to the floor.
Big E tried to do a spot on the steel steps but Crews countered into a Death Valley Driver on the ring apron and this is when he took control of the match. Crews tried to drop steel steps on Big E but he moved out of the way. Crews followed up with a kick to the face but Big E countered with a Uranage slam on the steel steps at ringside. Big E set up a table to put Crews through but Crews recovered and nailed Big E with kendo stick shots and then he went for a frog splash but Crews crashed through the table. The man formerly known as Dabba Kato appeared to attack Big E and that was enough for Crews to pin Big E and win the title.
