Liv Morgan had a big night at Saturday’s WWE Money in the Bank event as she won the women’s MITB ladder match before cashing in the briefcase later in the night after SmackDown Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey successfully retained the title over Natalya.

Following that title defense, Morgan cashed in, and Rousey immediately put her in the ankle lock. However, Morgan kicked Rousey’s bad knee that had been worked over in the match with Natalya, and Morgan rolled her up for the win.

While speaking on today’s Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer stated the current plan is for Morgan to defend the title against Rousey at SummerSlam on July 30th. There had been some speculation that WWE might go back to Charlotte Flair, who has been off TV for a while after getting married, feuding with Rousey at this upcoming event.

“Right now, the plan is Liv Morgan and Ronda Rousey at SummerSlam, which kind of surprises me in a lot of ways, especially because they didn’t leave with any heat. Ronda just hugged her, walked out of the ring, and let her have her moment. They’ve been building for this with Liv Morgan for a while.

Meltzer added, “It is interesting, though, as I think almost everybody figured it was going to be Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey at SummerSlam, and it’s not.”

WWE has yet to confirm that this rematch will happen at SummerSlam.
