WWE’s First Primetime NBC Special Since 2008 To Be Announced Soon

When WWE announced its TV deal with NBCU for SmackDown to return to the USA Network starting next Friday, it also included primetime specials.

The five-year deal also called for WWE to produce four primetime specials per year that will air on NBC. WWE has aired Saturday Night’s Main Event specials for years on NBC and past Tribute to the Troops specials.

WrestleVotes reported today that WWE will announce its first NBC primetime special since August 2008 in the coming days.

We’ve heard some internal speculation about a Saturday night in December. This will be WWE’s first primetime NBC special since August 2, 2008.

If WWE holds the specials on Saturday nights, they could be held under the name Saturday Night’s Main Event.
