WWE’s Gable Steveson reportedly wants to return to Minnesota Gophers amateur wrestling

Gable Steveson might not be done with amateur wrestling.

According to TwinCities Pioneer Press, although Steveson said that last season would be the end of his amateur wrestling days, he has one year of NCAA eligibility remaining and he is looking into possibly coming back for the Gophers’ 2022-23 season.

Gophers wrestling coach Brandon Eggum said, “I know he would like to wrestle, and he loves competing.” He added, “It would have to be something he works out with the WWE and Vince McMahon.”

Eggum said that the details have to be ironed out. No word yet on how this will play out with WWE. Steveson is under a multi-year WWE contract and the company has high hopes for him to become a star somewhere on the level of Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar.

He got a big introduction last year at SummerSlam and was introduced by Stephanie McMahon at WrestleMania in Dallas. There was talk that he would start on the Raw roster after Mania but he has yet to get into the mix.
