WWE recently wrote Matt Riddle off TV for “six weeks” after an attack from Solo Sikoa but there’s been no word from the company on the real reason why he was sent home.
All indications have been that he’s not injured and more details on his absence came out today via a report from Cassidy Haynes at Bodyslam.net. The report states that Riddle failed a drug test.
Haynes reported that Riddle violated the company’s wellness policy over the summer (when Vince McMahon was still in charge) and that was the reason why his match with Seth Rollins was bumped to the Clash at the Castle pay-per-view. Many of you will recall that the match was originally advertised for SummerSlam. Riddle was reportedly told by the new leadership that if he failed another test then he would have to go to rehab or his contract would be terminated.
Haynes added that Riddle went on to fail another test recently, which meant that he had to go to rehab. Haynes wrote, “The belief going around is that he has already entered treatment, or will be going in soon as most programs run for 30 days and he would need to be finished in time for his return in six weeks.”
The company no longer tests for marijuana so that would suggest that he tested positive for something else.
