WWE’s next pay-per-view has been renamed to Extreme Rules: The Horror Show

It looks like WWE has another gimmick to get fans to tune in to their next pay-per-view.

WWE has updated their preview page for Extreme Rules and the show is now being referred to as WWE Extreme Rules: The Horror Show.

Here is what was written at the end of the preview for the match between Raw Women’s Champion Asuka and Sasha Banks:

“Will Banks become a double champion, or will Asuka continue to reign supreme on the red brand? Find out at WWE Extreme Rules: The Horror Show, streaming Sunday, July 19, at 7 ET/4 PT on the award-winning WWE Network!”

The same tagline is used elsewhere on the preview page.

It’s not clear yet what “Horror Show” refers to but, based on current storylines, it looks like Braun Strowman will defend his Universal Championship against Bray Wyatt once again. That match would be one of the likely candidates to have some sort of “Horror Show” stipulation in a cinematic setting.

The cinematic matches are being done during the pandemic to spice things at major events and give fans a hook that will make them want to tune in.

As of now, the only matches announced for the show are Asuka defending the Raw Women’s Championship against Sasha Banks and Drew McIntyre defending the WWE Championship against Dolph Ziggler. Other matches likely for the show are Randy Orton vs. The Big Show and Braun Strowman defending the Universal Championship against Bray Wyatt.
