WWE’s Plans For Upcoming John Cena Match

Following his successful Undisputed WWE Championship defense against Randy Orton at Backlash on May 10, John Cena may have found his next challenger in R-Truth. The storyline escalated after Truth interfered in the Backlash main event, attempting to stop Orton from punting Cena, only to receive an RKO for his efforts, before Cena ultimately won. Cena then emphatically put R-Truth through a table during the post-Backlash press conference.

According to a report from Cory Hays of Bodyslam.net, R-Truth is now slated to face his “childhood hero” John Cena in approximately two weeks. This timeline aligns with the next edition of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, scheduled for May 24, 2025, in Tampa, Florida, an event for which Cena is already advertised.

It remains unconfirmed if Cena’s Undisputed WWE Championship will be on the line for this potential encounter. The two last faced off in a notable televised singles match on Raw back in June 2011, where R-Truth surprisingly defeated Cena in a tables match.

His father, John Cena Sr., recently indicated Cena’s ultimate farewell match will occur in Boston this December.
