WWE’s tentative plans for second gimmick match between Randy Orton and The Fiend at Royal Rumble

WWE is moving forward with a program between Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt’s alter ego, The Fiend.

It was reported earlier this week by Ringside News that their rematch will have another gimmick attached to it at the 2021 Royal Rumble pay-per-view. At the time, there wasn’t a stipulation known.

Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the report is true before providing a further update. Meltzer noted, “the tentative idea is to call it a Firefly Fun House match.”

WWE has done this match before as Wyatt took on John Cena at WrestleMania 36 last year. It was a cinematic match though with various segments and not a lot of wrestling. It will be interesting to see whether WWE goes that route or changes things up.

Orton defeated The Fiend in the first-ever Firefly Inferno match at the WWE TLC pay-per-view earlier this month. WWE has kept Wyatt off television for him to sell being burned alive at the event.

WWE holds the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event on January 31, 2021 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida on the WWE Network.
