The Creed Brothers (Brutus & Julius Creed) lost to The Dyad (Jagger Reid & Rip Fowler) in a Loser Leaves NXT match when a masked man in a red hoodie hit a headbutt to Julius, allowing The Dyad to allow them to get the win on the July 4th episode of NXT.
This led to speculation that The Creeds would be called up to the main roster. Following the episode, there were conflicting beliefs within the company about it. Some people thought they would be called up, while others didn’t.
While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that The Creed Brothers were not going up to the main roster and were hidden behind masks during a Schism segment on this week’s show.
Meltzer: “Well, it’s pretty clear that The Creeds are not coming up.
Bryan Alvarez: “No. It looks like they’ll be back at some point here soon.
Meltzer: “Well, they’re already teasing it.”
Alvarez: “Yeah. We had a Wes Lee promo.”
Meltzer: “Did you see the thing with The Schism and Ivy Nile?
Alvarez: “Yeah. The Schism wants to recruit Ivy now.”
Meltzer: “You notice the guys in the mask pretending to be with the part of the schism were actually The Creeds under masks.”
Alvarez: “I did not see that.”
Meltzer: “Yeah. I don’t know how long it’s gonna go, but there’s a whole….remember the whole group of mass dudes?
Alvarez: “They got a whole group of Schism guys. Yeah.”
Meltzer: “When they’re walking away, the last two are Brutus and Julius, totally hidden. You’re not supposed to know who they are, but it wasn’t so hidden because Ivy gave ’em a look and everything like that. But that’s, that’s what it was. Yeah. So they’re definitely coming back with, I dunno if they’re coming back under masks to avert the avoid, you know, the loser leaves town losers to come back under masks and do that gimmick, but, they’re, they are not going to the main roster, you know, so, when there were people there who were assured that in fact, they were not going to the main roster, and I thought, eh, it’s WWE. They lie to people to hide stuff all the time, but they were telling the truth on this one.”
