Zack Ryder gives high praise to Arn Anderson for supporting him during early social media days
Matt Cardona, the former Zack Ryder, was the guest on Sam Roberts’ “Not Sam Wrestling” podcast. Among several topics, Cardona talked about his time in WWE’s version of ECW, his early days on social media and the support he got from Arn Anderson. He also had good things to say about Christian.
Here are some highlights:
Zack’s highlight in ECW: “Wrestling Christian was super cool. This guy is one of the most underrated performers of all time, and he is one of my favorites of all time.”
Zack talking about his early social media days: “I think I was the first person to prove that you can use those platforms to help your wrestling character. At that time, I was still one of the younger guys on the roster. So, to me, twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram wasn’t even around yet, but those things were things I was using as the real person, Matt Cardona. I already knew how to do that, so why don’t I do it as Zack Ryder and let the people in.”
Arn Anderson’s view of Zack going on social media in its infancy: “There were a lot of people who didn’t understand it but still supported me. I’ll never forget Arn Anderson. I remember him laying on the couch backstage in Mexico. He has the laptop on his belly and he is watching the show. He doesn’t get what’s going on, but he knows I am putting in the work. He knows I’m trying to do something and that is what he appreciated.”
