Shelton Benjamin, who was scheduled to return to WWE as part of Smackdown Live, announced on twitter that he has a torn rotator in his shoulder and he will not be returning to WWE. It looks like the injury came up as Benjamin was going through the standard medical tests in Pittsburgh. It’s similar to the shoulder injury that John Cena suffered earlier this year but Cena had a partial tear. This injury will likely keep Benjamin out of action through the end of this year and probably a few months into 2017.
Benjamin wrote, “I am both disappointed & sadden to announce that due to a serious injury to my shoulder I will not be returning to WWE at this time. For now I will have to put pro-wrestling to the side as I prepare to undergo surgery to repair my torn rotator. This comes as a shock to me as i am no stranger to performing while in pain yet I had no idea of the severity of my condition. Thank you WWE for helping me discover this situation & for giving me an opportunity to return. I will be back.”
This is a bad break for Benjamin but hopefully he is given another chance to return to WWE when he heals up.
