SPOILER: Plans revealed for one of the top WrestleMania matches

Following Vince McMahon’s decision to nix the planned Undertaker vs. John Cena match at WrestleMania, everyone speculated on what the new plans would be for both men. By last week, it was already known that Taker would be facing someone on the Raw roster.

In this week’s Wrestling Observer newsletter, it was revealed that the current plan is now for Roman Reigns vs. The Undertaker at WrestleMania. If Reigns defeats Kevin Owens on Sunday then that means that Taker would likely (if the title doesn’t change hands at Fastlane in March) be challenging for the WWE Universal Championship.

It’s an interesting match-up because Reigns is already having trouble getting over with fans and a match with Taker will make sure that he gets booed heavily at Mania. I wonder if they are already looking at a potential heel turn for Reigns. At this stage in his career, there is no way they would turn The Undertaker and even if they did, the fans would still cheer him over Reigns.

Reigns and Undertaker haven’t really interacted much on WWE TV over the years but there was one angle in 2013 that involved The Shield attacking Taker after his match with Dean Ambrose. Reigns speared Taker through the barricade at ringside and all three members of The Shield triple powerbombed Taker through the broadcast table. He never got his revenge so that footage could be used to hype the upcoming match at Mania.

There’s no word yet on who Cena will be facing at Mania.
