The Mae Young Classic aired live after Smackdown Live on the WWE Network. Ata Johnson, Canadian Olympic Gold Medalist in free style wrestling Erica Wiebe, Mercedes Martinez, Candice LeRae, Piper Niven, Toni Storm, Mauro Ranallo, Beth Phoenix, Dana Warrior, Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Bayley, Asuka, Jessamyn Duke, Marina Shafir, and Ronda Rousey were some of the names shown sitting in the crowd. They brought in Lilian Garcia as the special ring announcer for this match.
The show started immediately after Smackdown Live but they stalled with video packages while the crew switched the ring ropes and ring apron so the ring entrances didn’t take place until about 10 pm eastern. There was some concern about the crowd reaction since they did this outside of Full Sail University but the fans in Las Vegas reacted to everything and the match came off like it was a big deal instead of some random 205 Live match.
Sane got the win with the insane elbow drop off the top. Ronda Rousey was shown nearly in tears at ringside.
