Asuka has a pretty tough choice to make. After winning the first-ever Women’s Royal Rumble match she has a decision of who she wants to face at WrestleMania. She can go after either the Raw or SmackDown Live brand’s champion and it looks like that decision will have to wait until after the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view.
While it is uncertain exactly how WWE will get to these matches via the storyline, The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that as of last week the plans backstage were to have Charlotte Flair face Asuka at the Show Of Shows while Alexa Bliss will take on Nia Jax.
It is interesting however that Kurt Angle announced i0f Nia Jax is able to win a match against Asuka at Elimination Chamber then she will make the match at Mania a triple threat seemingly placing Asuka in a match for the Raw Women’s Title. But plans can change and it was also noted how this could have been a tactic to throw fans “off the scent” of what’s going to actually take place.
There are two possible stories which could stem from the Jax vs Asuka match at Elimination Chamber that might not make the most sense. If Asuka loses to Jax in her first defeat so The Empress Of Tomorrow can go on to WrestleMania and face either Charlotte Flair or Ronda Rousey it would be confusing. Also, having Nia Jax lose her match against Asuka and still being inserted into a title match at the Show Of Shows could also be contradictory to the storyline’s logic as well.
Only time will tell what WWE is going to do at this point. But the wheels are obviously in motion building toward WrestleMania 34 in New Orleans.
