This week on Smackdown Live, the winner of the Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn match was supposed to be declared as the number 1 contender for AJ Styles’ WWE Championship at the Fastlane pay-per-view. Instead, the match was thrown out because Styles attacked both Owens and Zayn. At the end of the show, Daniel Bryan announced that Styles would have to defend the title at Fastlane in a Triple Threat Match.
Well, it’s no longer a Triple Threat Match because, as announced on Thursday by Shane McMahon, the winner of next week’s Baron Corbin vs. Dolph Ziggler match will be inserted into the WWE Championship match at Fastlane. That would make it a Fatal 4-Way match.
An unexpected end to #SDLive with a triple threat match made for #WWEFastlane…I’m going to make a bit more interesting.
Next week: @BaronCorbinWWE vs. @HEELZiggler. The winner is added to the match and makes it a #Fatal4Way for the @WWE title.

It will be interesting to see if there’s any follow-up for Ziggler after vacating the United States Championship in late December. As of now, there has been nothing said on why he returned at the Royal Rumble and why he was brought back to Smackdown Live. Hopefully, all of that is addressed on Tuesday.
