As previously noted heron the site, there have been talks to get Hulk Hogan into Bullet Club. Hogan has outright said that he’d love to work with them and talked about wanting to do stuff with New Japan Pro Wrestling. He wasn’t joking.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter said on Sunday that “there have been talks and the gist of it is that it’s not cost-effective because I think he wants more money than he’s worth at this stage of the game.” Meltzer also noted that it’s common knowledge that Hogan would jump to WWE as soon as they called him. Hogan is different than Chris Jericho because they have an agreement with Jericho and they have things mapped out. With Hogan, they could have things mapped out but then he would jump as soon as he got the call from Vince McMahon. Hogan has a history of doing things like that. In 2003, he shot an angle with Jeff Jarrett and then jumped to WWE when McMahon called him.
The idea was to put him in Bullet Club so Hogan was not joking when he expressed interest in working with the group. Hogan can’t really wrestle anymore so the options are limited. He could have been an ambassador for the company but it doesn’t seem like his price tag would have been worth it. Meltzer ended by saying, “He’s such a larger than life character that he takes over everything and I don’t know that’s good to overshadow [your stars]. Your product is Okada, Naito, and Omega and The Young Bucks and Ishii and these guys and you have this guy and he goes and overshadows them and then leaves…I’m pretty negative on the idea. It could happen [but] I don’t think it’s the right move for New Japan.”
