Fox reportedly willing to drop UFC if they can land a deal for WWE programming

The Fox-WWE story is very real and if a deal is made then WWE could get their biggest TV revenue deal to date. Michael McCarthy from The Sporting News is reporting that Fox could end it’s relationship with UFC if they are able to land a deal to get WWE.

“[Fox] is definitely trying to get [the WWE]. They’ll pass on UFC, then use ‘Raw’ for [Fox Broadcasting] and FS1 content,” a source told McCarthy. The story notes that both WWE and UFC are looking to get $400 million per year in TV rights but Fox is more likely to pay that kind of money to WWE over UFC. If Raw moves to Fox then the show would likely be cut down to 2 hours and air from 8-10 pm because most local Fox networks air local news at 10 pm.

As we noted on Wednesday, there were several Fox Sports executives sitting ringside for Tuesday night’s Smackdown Live. During the last few minutes of the 2/28 “Speak For Yourself” show on FS1, Colin Cowherd and Jason Whitlock talked about attending Smackdown Live on Tuesday and they put over WWE as a “professionally run organization.” Cowherd said that he met Stephanie McMahon and that he had a blast and laughed for two hours.

Whitlock said that he was a fan of wrestling as a kid and that he was “looking forward to perhaps getting more involved, watching pro wrestling in the future.” Cowherd then suggested that wrestling is a “very good sport…coming to a network near you.”

The hosts laughed as the show went off the air.
