How Roman Reigns could shoot up in the WWE history books this weekend

This weekend Roman Reigns will go head-to-head with Bobby Lashley at the WWE’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view (PPV) from the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

“The Big Dog” actually has a shot at shooting up in the WWE record books should the match find itself in the main event. Of course, with Reigns being involved in the match there’s definitely a chance the bout main events the show. Not to mention Dave Meltzer recently noted on Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Reigns vs. Lashley “looks like the main event.”

If this were the case, it would be the first time an Extreme Rules main event was headlined by a regular singles match with no stipulation. A user on Reddit noted that it would also be Reigns’ 27th PPV main event of his career. That would put him at number 11 for all time PPV headliners.

He would also close the gap between himself and Brock Lesnar, who is at the number 10 spot with 28 PPV main events. Should Reigns main event Extreme Rules; he’ll have main evented more PPVs than Batista, Bret Hart, Kurt Angle and Edge.

John Cena leads the way in all time PPV main events with a staggering 72. The remaining nine above Lesnar can be found below:

  • Chris Jericho (30)
  • The Rock (33)
  • Stone Cold Steve Austin (68)
  • Shawn Michaels (68)
  • Randy Orton (68)
  • Triple H (68)
  • The Undertaker (69)
  • John Cena (72)
