Guerrero is recognized as one of the greatest professional wrestlers of all time. The former WWE Champion had wrestled all over the world for various promotions; such as New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW), ECW and WCW. He signed with WWE in 2000 and was with them for a year before being released after a drunk driving incident that occurred during his hiatus for substance abuse recovery.
He returned in 2002 and blossomed into one of the industries’ top stars. The stretch included winning the WWE Title, Intercontinental Title and United States Title. In the final weeks before his death, Guerrero was actually in the midst of a storyline with Batista for the World Heavyweight Championship on SmackDown.
On November 13, 2005 Guerrero was found unresponsive in his Minneapolis, Minnesota hotel room by his nephew and fellow WWE Superstar at the time, Chavo Guerrero. The former WWE Champion was pronounced dead at the scene and a subsequent autopsy determined his passing was due to heart failure by way of undetected cardiovascular disease. He was 38-years-old.
Guerrero was inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame in 2006 by Chris Benoit, Rey Mysterio and Chavo Guerrero.
